RANKINGS
AFTER WEEK 5
OUR
CONTESTANTS:
Going into the Finals, we have had 47 different people compete in our
qualifying rounds over
the five weeks of qualifying. Each week, we have kept track of
the scores for each contestant
and we have assembled them all below. Some contestants who did
not qualify in their first
attempt, returned the next week to compete again. Some moved into
the finals and some did
not. In the rankings listed below, if a person appeared more than
once in the qualifying weeks,
we took only their best score for the rankings.
Sadly, we have several people who scored well in their first attempt,
but not quite well enough to
make it into the top 3 for that particular night. Looking at the
rankings, adjusted for the number
of people competing each week, some scored higher than people who were
in the finals. Had
these people returned to compete again, there is a very good chance
they could have qualified
for the finals.
ADJUSTING SCORES
FOR RANKING:
Scores each week will vary, depending on how many people are competing
that week. A score
of 373 may seem like a better score than 255, but when you consider
that the score of 373 was
the total of 14 peoples' scores and the score of 255 was based on the
total of only 8 peoples' scores,
we have to adjust the scores by the number of people contributing to
that score. To do that we
must divide the score by the number of people giving those scores to
get their average score out
of a possible 40 points. The score of 373 was given by 14 people
so 373 / 14 = 26.64 points out
of a possible 40. The score of 255 was given by only 8 people, so
255 / 8 = 31.88 points out of a
possible 40. Therefore, since the adjusted score of 31.88 is
greater than the adjusted score of 26.64,
the person with the higher adjusted score gets the higher rank.
