During the COVID-19
Pandemic that hit the world in March of 2020, live entertainment was
shut down everywhere and over-night, people around the world were
suddenly cutoff from one of their favorite pasttimes, attending
concerts. This shut-down hit The Villages especially hard because there were three town squares and multiple outdoor venues where people went nightly for live entertainment and in an instant they were gone! Health officials told everyone to remain indoors and stay away from other people to avoid spreading the virus so people hunkered down. After a few days, Alan Ross was frustrated and set up his sound equipment in his driveway and began singing. People started coming out of their houses to listen and after a short while, people were pulling up in their golf cars to listen. More and more people began to arrive, throwing gratitude money into a tip jar and Alan posted on social media to all his entertainer friends that they could survive the shutdown by doing these driveway concerts from their own homes. The phenomenon of the Driveway Concert was born. |

But Alan also knew that not everyone had an entertainer living near them so he decided to build a mobile stage on a trailer and take the music out to different communities throughout Central Florida. The Daily Sun, a local Newspaper. picked up the story and soon people were calling and e-mailing Alan to please bring his rig and sing for their Village or community. Alan was performing dozens of mini-concerts every week throughout the summer of 2020. Today, Alan still takes his mobile rig out by appointment to perform for block parties, birthdays, anniversaries and more.
